I have a strong interest in teaching internationally. I find it fascinating and rewarding to see how performers train in other parts of the world, and I love to share my style of teaching with students that I would not normally have the chance to work with in New York.  Some of the international places I have traveled to as guest faculty include:

Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne, Australia–3 appointments in 2015/2018/2019)

Danish Actor’s Association (Copenhagen, Denmark)

American Musical Theatre Live! Paris (Paris, France)

The Danish Academy of Musical Theatre (Fredericia, Denmark)

The Banff Centre (Alberta, Canada)

Shanghai Theatre Academy (Shanghai, China)

Here’s what some of my Melbourne students said about my time with them:

Having the privilege of being able to attend Andrew Byrne’s tutorials has been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. He was enthusiastic about seeing results in all of his students while he was at VCA and I believe we all improved drastically under his teaching. He encouraged us all to think outside the box and really think about the entire body as our instrument rather than just the voice. He was also incredible at providing insight into the Musical Theatre industry in the U.S and was always happy to answer any questions that we had. He is both a fantastic teacher and person and I am so grateful that I got this opportunity. Daniel Cosgrove

Thank you doesn’t even come close for what you helped me achieve!  Belting was apart of me that I had just shut down and always had horrible thoughts about, but you helped me realise that “Fear is a constrictor” and that I can do this and I did do for you! Your method of teaching I found to be truly amazing and I reacted 100% to your different exercises, rather than people just saying to “do this and feel that”. You made me aware that to sing, my whole body is involved and I don’t think I had realised how true that statement was until now. Amelia Wilson

Having Andrew Byrne as a vocal coach completely changed my view of my ability as a singer. He instilled in me a confidence in my voice and his techniques have changed the way I use my voice for the better. To have overseas knowledge and fresh eyes on us as performers was truly amazing. He is a wizard when it comes to using the voice, I have never experienced such things in my life! Bring him back!  Andrew Johnston
